Scilab - Open Source software for numerical computation

Scilab is the worldwide Open Source reference in numerical computation and simulation software. Scilab has been adopted in all the major strategic and scientific areas of industry and services, such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, energy, defense, finance. Scilab is usually compared to MATLAB® because their syntax and functionalities are very similar.

Scilab provides a powerful computing environment for engineering and scientific applications:

  • Mathematics and simulation
  • 2D and 3D visualization
  • Optimization
  • Statistics
  • Control systems design and analysis
  • Signal processing
  • Application development

Scilab installation package includes Xcos, the hybrid dynamic systems modeler and simulator, which in turn is sometimes compared to Simulink®.

Scilab is published by Scilab Enterprises, the official structure resulting of the Scilab Consortium which had developed the software since 2003.
